About Dr. Boyd
As the owner and founder of Vision Animal Eye Specialists, Dr. Danielle Boyd brings not only exceptional expertise but also a deep, heartfelt connection to every animal she treats. Inspired by her mother’s compassion and nurturing soul, she pursued veterinary medicine. Her mother's example instilled in her the foundation of love and empathy that fuels her dedication to providing exceptional veterinary care.
Dr. Boyd attended St. George’s University and North Carolina State University, earning a Master of Public Health and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. It was during this time she discovered her passion for ophthalmology after witnessing a dog's emotional reunion with his family after cataract surgery, solidifying her path. "Seeing the sheer happiness as the dog saw his family across the room—and his family's tears—was a moment I'll cherish forever," she says. "It's the indescribable gift of restored sight that makes my work so meaningful." This moment revealed her calling to restore not just sight, but also the joy and connection between pets and their families.
Dr. Boyd's dedication led her to complete five additional years of extensive training, with a rotating small animal internship and a specialty internship in ophthalmology, followed by residency training, becoming a board-certified veterinary ophthalmologist . She specializes in complex corneal surgeries, glaucoma management, cataract surgery, and uveitis treatment, always approaching each case with compassion and meticulous care.
Outside of Vision, Dr. Boyd enjoys her time exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest and traveling with her husband, their blended family, and their three dogs, Squish, Weasel, and Cookie, and cat, Noogie.
